HOW TO GO FROM DREAMER TO DESIGNER?
My Best Tips for Becoming a Creative Director or Designer
Becoming a successful creative director or designer isn't just about talent—it's about mindset, dedication, and purpose. Here are my top tips to help you thrive in this exciting career:
1. Keep Learning Relentlessly
The fashion industry evolves constantly. Stay curious and never stop soaking up new skills, trends, and techniques. Take workshops, read about new materials, and study other creatives' work to expand your perspective. Learning fuels innovation.
2. Help the Environment
Sustainability is more than a buzzword; it’s a responsibility we all share. Incorporate eco-friendly practices into your work—whether it’s using upcycled fabrics, minimizing waste, or supporting ethical production. Your designs can make a statement and a difference.
3. Practice Your Craft Daily
Mastery requires practice. Sketch every day, experiment with textures, or sew even when you don’t have a big project. Repetition builds confidence and hones attention to detail. Remember, every stitch and stroke counts.
4. Believe in Yourself
Faith in your vision is the secret ingredient. The fashion world can be tough, but if you believe in your unique voice and stay true to your creative identity, doors will open. Confidence empowers creativity.
Your journey to becoming a creative director or designer is a blend of passion, persistence, and purpose. Keep dreaming big, keep working hard, and keep the planet in mind. The runway is yours to conquer!

Designing Through Faith: How Building My Relationship with God Made Me a Better Designer
Designing Through Faith: How Building My Relationship with God Made Me a Better Designer
Over the past three years, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined—not just as a designer, but as a woman, a mother, and a servant of God. What began as a personal journey to build a stronger relationship with Him quickly revealed itself to be the foundation of my creative purpose. I used to design from a place of ego, chasing perfection, recognition, and approval. But once I started walking in faith, everything changed.
I design now not to impress, but to serve. I create to teach, to grow, to nurture, and to inspire others. My gifts are no longer just mine—they’re tools God uses through me. The more I study the Word and stay grounded in prayer, the clearer my vision becomes. Listening to the Bible while I sew or sketch helps me stay centered throughout the day. I don’t allow noise or negativity to distract me the way it used to. Gossip, drama, fear—I choose to step away from it and focus on gratitude, peace, and purpose.
Being a designer is no longer just about fashion. It’s about ministry. It’s about walking in obedience. Before I start anything—a gown, a mood board, a business plan—I pause and ask God for guidance. I trust that if He gave me the assignment, He will also give me the strength and strategy to complete it. Whether the outcome looks how I expected or not, I remind myself: I am blessed. Always. Not just when it’s easy, but especially when it’s not.
This mindset has transformed my work. My sewing has become more efficient. I make fewer errors. My creative blocks don’t last as long. I feel more at peace while I work, because I’m no longer relying on my own strength—I’m working hand-in-hand with the One who created me to create. The mood boards come together faster. The color palettes flow. The designs feel more connected to something greater than me.
Faith is the reason I’m here. Faith is the reason I keep going. And faith is the reason I’ve become the designer I am today. This journey has taught me that success isn’t about how many likes, features, or clients you have. It’s about how well you’re serving the purpose God placed inside you.
I design with faith now. And because of that, I design better.
